Firmware authentication bypass in HP Sure Start IFD Protection allows physically proximate attackers to compromise protected PC firmware. HP identifies the Intel Flash Descriptor protection boundary but has not published the exact validation or enforcement error. Physical access is required; successful exploitation permits code execution, firmware integrity or confidentiality loss, or a device service interruption.
