CVE-2023-6181Network attack vector

Persistent code execution via reboot-reason BCB handling

Published Dec 11, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Persistent code execution in Google Android SoC allows remote attackers to compromise Chromecast devices through reboot-reason handling. U-Boot mishandles the reboot reason in the bootloader control block, allowing code execution to persist across device reboots. No privileges or user interaction are required, but exploitation is limited to affected Chromecast with Google TV hardware.
