CVE-2023-6154

Local privilege escalation via configurable library loading

Published Apr 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 12, 2024

Configuration-setting weakness in Bitdefender security products 27.0.25.114 allows local users to gain elevated privileges via DLL loading. The Windows seccenter.exe process accepts an externally controlled setting that changes its library-loading behavior and permits a third-party DLL to load at execution. A low-privilege local user must alter that setting; the loaded code then executes in the security product's privileged context.
