CVE-2023-6038Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file read via unauthenticated import endpoints

Published Nov 16, 2023 · Updated Aug 29, 2024

Local file inclusion in H2O-3 3.40.0.4 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through its unauthenticated REST API. The ImportFiles GET and ParseSetup POST handlers accept attacker-supplied filesystem paths and import the referenced local files without an authorization check. The default open configuration requires no credentials or user interaction, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the H2O-3 process.
