Unauthenticated code execution via unvalidated artifact paths
Published Nov 16, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in the MLflow web server 2.8.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to overwrite arbitrary host files without authentication. HttpArtifactRepository.list_artifacts trusts path values returned by an attacker-controlled artifact server and joins them without rejecting absolute or parent paths. A network-reachable tracking server that permits unauthenticated model-version creation can be directed to fetch the crafted listing, enabling code execution when a startup file or other executable content is overwritten.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
