CVE-2023-6006

SYSTEM code execution via unsecured executable loading

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Jan 8, 2025

Local privilege escalation in PaperCut NG/MF Application Server before 23.0.1 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM on Windows. The pc-pdl-to-image process loads an executable from an unsecured location where attacker-controlled code can be placed. Exploitation requires low-privileged execution and C-drive write access on a Windows Application Server with Print Archiving enabled without GhostTrap.
