CVE-2023-5970Network attack vector

MFA bypass via accent-confusable external usernames

Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper authentication in SonicWall SMA 100 Series 10.2.1.9-57sv and earlier allows remote authenticated users to bypass MFA. The Virtual Office portal accepts accent characters when creating a duplicate external-domain identity, allowing the duplicate to evade the intended second-factor binding. A valid authenticated account is required; successful exploitation exposes globally defined SSL-VPN portal bookmarks and resources.
