Stored XSS via unsanitized hover color settings
Published Jan 8, 2024 · Updated Jun 18, 2025
Stored XSS in WP Custom Cursors 3.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through hover background-color settings. The plugin saves the Background Color value for Shape or Snap hover options without adequate input sanitization and renders it without output escaping, so crafted markup becomes executable script. Administrator-level access is required, and the issue affects multisite deployments or sites where unfiltered_html is disabled; the script runs when a user opens the injected page.
