Stored script execution via raw publication metadata
Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Stored XSS in Public Knowledge Project PKP Web Application Library before 3.3.0-16 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts. The statistics publications template passes authorsStringShort and localized fullTitle values to Vue v-html, causing stored publication metadata to be interpreted as HTML rather than escaped as text. High-privilege access is required to store the content, and the resulting script runs in the security context of a user who opens the affected statistics view.
