Script execution via unescaped modal title
Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
DOM-based XSS in PKP Web Application Library before 3.3.0-16 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a submission title. ModalHandler.js appends the attacker-controlled title to the Information Center header as HTML instead of creating a text node. Exploitation requires high-privilege access to set the title and a user to open the submission's Information Center, allowing script execution in that user's browser.
