CVE-2023-5894Network attack vector

Authenticated stored XSS via unescaped issue title

Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Stored cross-site scripting in Open Journal Systems before 3.3.0-16 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in issue-management pages. Issue-grid edit dialogs rendered the issueIdentification title without HTML escaping, allowing attacker-controlled markup to persist and run when the dialog is viewed. Exploitation requires an account able to create or modify issue titles and a victim browser that opens the affected management view; impact is primarily integrity and confidentiality within that browser session.
