CVE-2023-5879Public exploit

Account takeover via persistent cleartext password storage

Published Jan 3, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Insecure credential storage in The Genie Company Aladdin Connect Mobile App 5.65 Build 2075 and earlier allows attackers to read account passwords. The app writes the password in clear text to /data/data/com.geniecompany.AladdinConnect/shared_prefs/com.genie.gdocntl.MainActivity.xml and retains the file and its contents after logout and reboot. Physical access to an unlocked or otherwise extractable Android device exposes the service account used to control the garage door opener; the vendor ties the flaw to biometric login.
