CVE-2023-5863Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Reflected XSS via unescaped login redirect action

Published Oct 31, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024

Reflected XSS in phpMyFAQ before 3.2.2 allows remote attackers to run script in a user’s browser through a crafted admin login URL. The admin/login.php form writes the action query parameter directly into the redirect-action value attribute without HTML entity encoding. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted URL, after which injected script executes in the phpMyFAQ origin and can read or alter browser-accessible session data.
