CVE-2023-5840Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Password-reset token theft via Host header poisoning

Published Oct 29, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Weak password recovery in LinkStack before 4.2.9 allows remote attackers to steal reset tokens through HTTP Host header poisoning. The global HTTP middleware leaves Laravel's TrustHosts control disabled, so the reset flow incorporates an attacker-supplied host into emailed links. Exploitation requires a victim to follow the poisoned recovery link; the stolen token permits the victim's account password to be reset.
