CVE-2023-5833Network attack vector

Authenticated configuration tampering via missing administrator check

Published Oct 30, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Improper access control in AnythingLLM before 0.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to alter protected system configuration. The system settings endpoint passes user-supplied values to updateENV without first requiring the authenticated user to hold the administrator role. In multi-user mode, an ordinary account can rewrite environment-backed settings, including authentication secrets, and gain unauthorized control over application configuration.
