Authenticated code execution via unrestricted avatar upload
Published Oct 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in student_avatar.php in Code Projects Admission Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The handler accepts a dangerous avatar file without enforcing a safe server-side file-type restriction, and the published proof of concept uses the upload for PHP code execution. A valid user account is required; successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code in the web server context.
