Communication-link denial of service via malformed APDUs
Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Denial of service in affected Hitachi Energy RTU500 Series firmware allows remote attackers to block an HCI IEC 60870-5-104 link. The link-layer frame reader blocks indefinitely when an APDU supplies incorrect length information or data octets arrive late. No authentication or user interaction is required, but attack complexity is high; the affected link resumes normally after the malicious sequence stops.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
