CVE-2023-5764

Template expression execution via unsafe marker loss

Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Template injection in ansible-core in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.4 allows local users to evaluate crafted template data. Controller-side nested templating can strip Ansible's unsafe marker from supplied values, then pass those values into a later Jinja evaluation instead of rejecting them. Local access and the ability to supply a crafted file or template data are required, after which expressions can read or alter controller-accessible data.
