CVE-2023-5751

Local file tampering and disclosure via shared directory

Published Jun 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper working-directory permissions in CODESYS products before 3.5.20.10 allow local users to read or modify files and interrupt services. Affected executables place their working directories under %ProgramData%\CODESYS by default, where access controls expose files across user and system security contexts. Exploitation requires a low-privilege local account; for Development System, only the simulation runtime is affected, and access is limited to working-directory files.
