CVE-2023-5729Public exploitNetwork attack vector

UI spoofing via overlapping WebAuthn prompt

Published Oct 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

UI spoofing in Mozilla Firefox before 119 allows remote attackers to hide the fullscreen notice with a simultaneous WebAuthn prompt. The browser permits DOM fullscreen state while a WebAuthn security-credential dialog is shown, allowing the prompt to cover the fullscreen warning and conceal browser chrome. A victim must visit a malicious page and interact with it; the resulting deception can misrepresent the page's origin or imitate trusted interface elements.
