CVE-2023-5692Network attack vector

Unauthenticated slug disclosure via overbroad 404 guessing

Published Apr 5, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Information disclosure in WordPress 6.4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to expose private custom post slugs through 404 requests. The redirect_guess_404_permalink function searches public but non-queryable post types using attacker-controlled slug prefixes and returns a canonical redirect containing a matching post's complete slug. Exposure requires such a custom post type and a matching slug prefix; the response reveals the hidden identifier but not the post contents.
