CVE-2023-5685Network attack vector

Unauthenticated service crash via recursive notifier traversal

Published Mar 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2025

Denial of service in XNIO through 3.8.13.Final allows remote attackers to crash dependent services via crafted requests. AbstractIoFuture.NotifierState recursively follows each next state when propagating completion or cancellation, exhausting the Java call stack on a deep chain. No privileges or user interaction are required; successful exploitation interrupts only the availability of the dependent service.
