CVE-2023-5622

SYSTEM code execution via unsecured OpenSSL configuration

Published Oct 26, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Tenable Network Monitor 6.2.3 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM on Windows hosts. A privileged process loads an OpenSSL configuration file from an unsecured location, allowing replacement with attacker-controlled content. Low-privileged code execution on the host is required; successful exploitation grants SYSTEM-level code execution.
