Remote code execution via configurable upload allowlist
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Jun 5, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Asgaros Forum before 2.7.1 allows remote attackers to upload executable PHP files after an unsafe setting change. The forum options flow lets forum administrators add dangerous extensions such as .php and .phtml to the upload allowlist, which the guest upload path then accepts. A forum administrator must first permit the extension; successful execution also requires the web server to execute the uploaded file type.
