Cross-site action invocation via missing AJAX nonces
Published Oct 20, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
CSRF in Clever Widgets Social Media Share Buttons & Social Sharing Icons 2.8.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to invoke AJAX actions. The AJAX action handlers in sfsi_buttons_controller.php accept state-changing requests without requiring a valid WordPress nonce. Exploitation requires an administrator with an authenticated WordPress session to open an attacker-controlled link, after which the request can perform an unspecified plugin action with the administrator's authority.
