CVE-2023-5551

Cross-group user disclosure via missing group filter

Published Nov 9, 2023 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Information disclosure in Moodle LMS 4.2.0 through 4.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to view students from other groups via the forum summary report. The summary_table.php query called get_enrolled_sql without filtering by the current user's permitted group IDs when Separate Groups mode was enabled. Access requires a logged-in user who can reach the report, and the bounded impact is exposure of enrollment and forum-participation data across group boundaries.
