CVE-2023-5548Network attack vector

Cache poisoning via unrestricted endpoint revisions

Published Nov 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Cache poisoning in affected Moodle LMS releases allows remote attackers to influence cached static assets via crafted revision numbers. File-serving endpoints accepted revisions outside the current release-to-current-time window and enabled cache headers and local storage instead of disabling caching. Affected versions are before 3.9.24, 3.11.0 through 3.11.16, 4.0.0 through 4.0.10, 4.1.0 through 4.1.5, and 4.2.0 through 4.2.2; unauthenticated network access is sufficient, with integrity impact but no reported disclosure or service interruption.
