Code execution via incomplete file-type blacklist
Published Oct 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 23, 2026
Code execution in M-Files Web Companion before 23.10 allows remote authenticated users to run code through a malicious vault file. Web Companion's file-type blacklist fails to reject specific dangerous types before they are handled through desktop applications. Exploitation requires the attacker to update a file in an accessible vault and a user with Web Companion installed to interact with it, allowing code to execute on that endpoint.
