Authenticated content deletion via unchecked AJAX handler
Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in ImageMapper 1.2.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary WordPress posts and pages. The imgmap_delete_area_ajax handler invokes WordPress post deletion for a requested object without checking whether the caller has permission to delete it. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and successful requests can remove posts or pages outside the account's authorization.
