Stored XSS via unsanitized SVG uploads
Published Oct 31, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Ashikur Rahman's CITS Support plugin before 3.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via SVG uploads. The media-upload path accepts an SVG containing a script element without sanitizing the document, then serves the stored file so its payload runs when viewed. An Author account can plant the file, but another user must view the uploaded SVG; script execution occurs in that viewer's browser and can expose or modify data available to that session.
