Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Privilege escalation in Infonet Software Mediconta 3.7.27 allows local users to execute code as LocalSystem during service startup. The servermedicontservice configuration leaves its executable path unquoted, causing Windows path resolution to select an attacker-placed executable from an earlier path segment. Exploitation requires local write access to a searched directory and a subsequent service start or system reboot, after which the injected code runs with LocalSystem permissions.
