Stack-based buffer overflow in Inbit Messenger 4.6.0 through 4.9.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands via TCP port 10883. IMS.EXE copies bytes from the opening tag of its custom XML-like protocol into a 48-byte stack buffer without enforcing a bound, allowing an overwritten function pointer to redirect execution to WinExec. The server accepts the packet before authentication; successful exploitation runs commands with the server process's system privileges and then crashes the process.
