CVE-2023-54310

Local kernel compromise via mptlan removal race

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel mptlan driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory during driver removal. mptlan_remove() frees the net_device while post_buckets_task can remain queued, allowing mpt_lan_post_receive_buckets_work() to access and update the released object. Local access is required to drive IP-over-Fibre-Channel traffic and remove the driver; exploitation can leak or overwrite kernel memory, panic the kernel, or wedge the storage adapter.
