Service interruption via unreleased probe clock
Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025
Resource leak in the 8250 BCM7271 serial driver in Linux allows local users to interrupt service during device probing. brcmuart_probe calls clk_prepare_enable for baud_mux_clk but returns along an error path without releasing the enabled clock. SUSE assesses local low-privileged access and high attack complexity; the resulting form of service interruption is not documented.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
