Service interruption via btrfs error-path memory leak
Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025
Memory leak in the Linux kernel's btrfs subsystem allows local users to interrupt service through a zoned-filesystem error path. On a zoned filesystem, exclude_super_stripes() exits after finding a block group mapped to superblocks but fails to free the allocated logical-address buffer. Reaching the leak requires local low-privilege access and the unexpected btrfs block-group state; repeated triggering can exhaust memory, while no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
