Kernel crash via stale bcache wait-list entry
Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025
Denial of service in Linux kernel bcache allows attackers to crash the kernel during concurrent cached btree node allocation. Waiting operations remain linked in btree_cache_wait when their memory is freed because the path omits finish_wait(), corrupting the list; it also fails to release btree_cache_alloc_lock. The affected path requires bcache and competing kernel threads to cannibalize cached btree nodes; no user-controlled trigger has been published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
