CVE-2023-54287

System crash via pending i.MX UART interrupt

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Null pointer dereference in the i.MX serial driver in Linux allows attackers to crash a Jailhouse inmate kernel during UART setup. The driver requests its IRQ while the UCR2 Ageing Timer interrupt can remain enabled, allowing a pending USR interrupt to reach the receive handler before uart_add_one_port initializes the port. The crash requires Jailhouse on affected i.MX hardware, an inmate-cell destroy-and-restart cycle, and input on the second Linux console.
