CVE-2023-54286

Adjacent kernel crash via oversized TKIP key copy

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel iwlwifi DVM before 6.4 allows physically proximate attackers to crash the kernel via TKIP. The iwlagn_send_sta_key function copies a 32-byte TKIP key, including unused MIC subkeys, into the 16-byte iwl_keyinfo.key field without limiting the length. Reaching the flaw requires affected Intel wireless hardware and TKIP key programming after association; the warning can panic kernels configured with panic_on_warn=1 or interrupt the wireless link.
