CVE-2023-54270

Kernel panic via uncanceled URB resubmission worker

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

Use-after-free in the Linux Siano USB media driver allows physically proximate attackers to trigger a kernel panic during device initialization. smsusb_term_device frees smsusb_device_t after stopping URBs, but a work item queued by smsusb_onresponse can still run do_submit_urb and dereference the freed object. Triggering the demonstrated crash requires an attached Siano USB device and a failed initialization while an URB resubmission worker remains queued.
