Service interruption via unreleased WMI setting allocations
Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025
Memory leak in the think-lmi driver in Linux 5.15.106, 6.1.23, and 6.2.10 allows local users to interrupt service. The driver retains an item allocated by tlmi_setting while parsing ThinkStation WMI strings instead of releasing it after use. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and compatible ThinkStation WMI firmware; repeated allocations can exhaust kernel memory and crash or hang the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
