Local service interruption via mlx5 RX memory leak
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Memory leak in Linux kernel 6.0, 6.1 before 6.1.45, and 6.2 through 6.4.9 allows local users to exhaust kernel memory. The mlx5e_init_rep_rx function allocates priv->rx_res but returns from its error path without freeing that allocation. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an error during mlx5 Ethernet representor receive initialization; repeated failures can interrupt service through memory exhaustion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
