Firmware tampering in HP t430 and t638 Thin Clients made before July 2023 allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code. The firmware trust chain relies on a signing key whose private component was publicly disclosed, allowing forged firmware to satisfy image-authenticity checks. Physical access and interaction with the device are required; successful tampering can elevate privileges or interrupt device operation.
