Filesystem creation interruption via untagged flush bios

Improper flush handling in Linux 6.3 allows local users to interrupt XFS filesystem creation on virtio-pmem devices. async_pmem_flush allocates a flush bio without REQ_OP_WRITE, so submit_bio_noacct rejects it because its operation is neither WRITE nor ZONE_APPEND. Triggering the failure requires access to run mkfs.xfs against a virtio persistent-memory device; the published result is a warning and failed flush, not a reported kernel crash.
