Service interrupt via unregistered UBI device deletion
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in Linux UBI from 2.6.22 allows attackers to cause a service interrupt via failed volume-device registration. After cdev_add fails in ubi_add_volume, kill_volumes calls ubi_free_volume, which passes an unregistered device to device_unregister. Reachability requires a UBI volume-add failure during initialization; public records do not establish attacker control over that failure.
