Host hang or crash via stale VF state
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Denial of service in the Linux kernel 6.3 through 6.5.3 igb driver allows local users to hang or crash a host during module removal. When pci_enable_sriov() fails on an Intel 82580, igb_enable_sriov() returns without clearing the failed VF setup, so removal treats nonexistent VFs as configured. The path requires a dual- or quad-port 82580, igb loaded with max_vfs set above zero, and privileges to remove the kernel module.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
