Local service interruption via runtime PM leak
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Availability flaw in the Linux kernel Cadence I2C driver allows local users to interrupt I2C service through the driver's error path. In cdns_i2c_master_xfer(), one direct error return bypasses the matching runtime PM reference release, so each reachable failure leaves the usage count elevated. Local low-privileged access and the affected Cadence I2C driver are required; repeated failures affect availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
