CVE-2023-53992Public exploit

Conditional kernel panic via invalid OCB leave

Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025

Improper OCB state handling in Linux kernel 3.19 through 6.1.54 and 6.2 through 6.5.4 allows local users to trigger a kernel warning. The cfg80211_leave_ocb path in net/wireless/ocb.c calls the driver or mac80211 leave operation even when no OCB channel definition is set. The operation requires local low-privileged access to manipulate an OCB wireless interface, and a kernel panic occurs when panic_on_warn is enabled; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.
