CVE-2023-53991

Platform lockup via unallocated DPU resources

Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025

NULL-pointer dereference in affected Linux kernels allows attackers to lock the platform via an unsupported MSM DPU topology. dpu_rm_get_assigned_resources increments num_blks across unallocated display stream compression entries and returns NULL pointers where callers expect valid resources. Reachability requires an MSM DPU platform whose requested topology includes compression blocks absent from its platform configuration; the bounded consequence is a platform lockup.
