Unauthenticated factory reset via unprotected CGI endpoint
Published Dec 22, 2025 · Updated Dec 22, 2025
Missing authentication in SOUND4 BIG VOICE 2 1.30, BIG VOICE 4 1.2, and WM2 1.11 allows remote attackers to reset configuration. The /usr/cgi-bin/restorefactory.cgi handler accepts a POST body without checking authentication and restores factory defaults. Network access to the appliance is sufficient; the request reboots it with default settings, erases its deployed configuration, and exposes administrative access through default credentials.
