SYSTEM privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Dec 19, 2025 · Updated Dec 19, 2025
Unquoted service path handling in OCS Inventory NG 2.3.0.0 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. The Windows Agent registers the auto-start OCS Inventory Service with the unquoted binary path C:\Program Files (x86)\OCS Inventory Agent\OcsService.exe. A local user with write access to C:\Program Files (x86)\OCS.exe causes Windows to launch it as LocalSystem when the service restarts or the host reboots.
